Direct Deposit

Customers can easily sign up for direct deposit of their Social Security or other federal benefits for free by using our direct deposit form (PDF) — or by calling Treasury’s GO Direct helpline at 800-333-1795, or by visiting www.GoDirect.org.

Safe Deposit Boxes

Safe deposit boxes provide a secure place away from your home or office for important documents and valuables. First Southern Bank offers safe deposit boxes in a variety of sizes, and the annual rent is automatically deducted from your First Southern Bank account.*

Contact your local branch to check availability and annual service fee.

Savings Bonds

As of January 1, 2012, U.S. Treasury changed savings bonds from paper to electronic Savings Bonds.  Electronic savings bonds in Series EE and I will remain available through purchase with TreasuryDirect® — a secure, Web-based system operated by Public Debt.

Customers of First Southern Bank can still redeem paper bonds at any of our First Southern Bank locations. Make sure to bring with you the paper bond and a valid photo ID with the correct address.

Stop Payment

When you need to place a stop payment on a check, please contact us or visit your local branch.

You will need the following information:

  • Check number
  • Date written
  • Exact amount
  • Payee

Important Considerations:

  • If the amount and check number are not exact, the check may still be paid.
  • The stop payment cannot be placed on an item that has already been presented.
  • A stop payment will be effective for six months.

Stop Payments may not be placed on debit card purchases or recurring charges once authorized. Please contact the merchant that is charging your account to cancel any recurring charges.

For further information regarding stop payments, stop payment fees or customer responsibilities, please contact us.
